Open Season Delayed
In light of the constantly changing situation, we are very disappointed to announce that Thirlestane Castle will not be open for the summer season as planned on 30th May. The health and wellbeing of our visitors, our staff and our local community is our priority and we feel it would be best to postpone our opening at this time.
We are paying close attention to all government advice but it goes without saying that it is very difficult to make any concrete plans at this time. We would hope to open the castle at some point over the summer but we accept that even this may not be possible. We will continue to take things on a daily basis and will make any updates as the advice or situation changes.
Currently, any events at the castle in July, August and September are scheduled to be going ahead but again we are making decisions constantly on the best way to proceed through this very uncertain and unprecedented set of circumstances.
Earlier this week we also took the decision to temporarily close the doors of our accommodation at the castle. For the moment, we will be looking to reschedule all April bookings and we will not be taking any new bookings for stays from now until the end of May.
Thirlestane Castle Caravan Park is also not open for the foreseeable future until we can be sure of the best health for all residents, campers and our staff.
We are sad that we are having to take these steps but ask that you would bear with us and support us as we do our bit to protect everyone’s health. These are very challenging times for many businesses and individuals and we look forward to the day when we have come out the other side and can welcome visitors once more to this fabulous building and its estate.
